    What I can offer you:

    • A supportive and safe environment.

    • Warmth and compassion.

    • Confidentiality and no judgement.

    • Support to build trust whilst gently challenging those thoughts that interfere and cause you distress.

    • Respect and acceptance.

    • My counselling approach is Integrative which means I do not adhere to or use one theoretical model or approach.

    • I do not offer advice or make decisions for you, or about your difficulties, but I will help you explore the thoughts and feelings you are having and help you think about choices. Counselling can help clear the wood from the trees, help make changes in your life, so you can develop and grow as a person.

    • Counselling is not magic, there are no tricks but I do like to think of it as engaging in a therapeutic conversation. Laughter is allowed and does happen.

I offer professional support for whatever mental health challenges you are facing.

My aim is to provide down-to-earth counselling without any jargon; a genuine and natural conversation between two people, where you can feel comfortable to laugh, cry or swear as you need. You’ll find a calm and relaxed space to share your story as we explore what you’d like to achieve from your sessions. My training included a variety of counselling methods and that allows me to tailor an approach that meets your individual needs; when appropriate this might be more practical but building a positive relationship will be at the center of everything we do and you will always be in control. There is no right or wrong answer, only what works for you.

The relationship between counsellor and client is really important and that’s why you’ll receive a free 30 minute consultation to learn more about me and how I work. There’s no pressure and how many sessions you have and how often you have them is completely up to you. As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, you can have full confidence that you’ll be working with a fully qualified and professional counsellor. My background is in education and before moving into private practice I was working with young adults at a local charity.

I believe talking therapy and the power of counselling can change your life in a very positive and powerful way. I am an integrative counsellor, with my approach being firmly based in Person Centered Therapy, but flexible to integrating other therapeutic techniques that may be useful to you. Person Centered Therapy means us working together. I will listen to the thoughts and feelings that are causing you unhappiness or distress. We are all individuals and need different things from counselling, so we can integrate other therapy, for example CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) if it feels right for you.

For me it is important to find the right counsellor for you. Someone you feel comfortable with, to build up your trust in and have a good therapeutic relationship with. I offer a confidential, non-judgmental place, where you can talk about whatever you need to.

Alongside my private practice I work as a nurse in the NHS. I chose to retrain as a nurse in my late 20's following the complicated birth of my daughter. This has then led me to where I am today, having become a counsellor. I am a parent and grandparent, and can fully empathise and appreciate the difficulties parenting and families can raise.

Life throws many surprises at us, and while we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to certain situations. My approach to counselling is integrative and adapted to each client, offering a safe, confidential and professional space.

I believe that the most important element for counselling to work effectively is the relationship between client and counsellor. This relationship is an equal partnership; one that is built on honesty, trust, empathy, equality, genuineness and acceptance. I want you to feel safe and accepted and able to be your true self in our relationship, rather than conforming to conditions placed upon you- by others, or by society.

I am a qualified, trauma-informed, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Integrative Counsellor. I draw on many different counselling approaches which allows me to work in a holistic and unique way with each individual. There is no ' one size fits all ' approach to therapy, thus I am constantly learning and developing my practice to incorporate new research findings and to ensure I am working within best practice guidelines.

In addition to my private counselling practice, I work in a mental health service within the NHS and also volunteer for a not-for-profit counselling service.

I will often suggest using a range of different therapeutic approaches in collaboration with you, being guided by your preferences. While these theories and techniques are important, it is above all the therapeutic relationship which you and I build that will become central to your recovery. This is why it is so important to find a therapist you can trust and feel comfortable with.

I work in a holistic way, taking into consideration the link between your thoughts, mind, body, emotions and your nervous system. My therapeutic work is trauma-informed and underpinned by the latest research from neuroscience, which includes Polyvagal Theory, Internal Family Systems (working with internal ‘parts’), Compassion Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and other somatic embodiment approaches.

  • David Trussler

You will find me in The Java Room.

    davidtrussler60@icloud.com

I am an Adult Psychotherapist working in private practice helping adults who are experiencing considerable difficulties with their feelings about themselves and in their relationships with others - particularly with partners, family and at work. These difficulties are often associated with a variety of psychological problems and negatively affect mental health, sometimes severely.

I provide clients with a safe therapeutic setting, offering better understanding of self and of important relationships, using a psychodynamic approach. Initially, one or more preliminary sessions help the client decide whether this is an appropriate approach for them. Longer term therapy of once weekly or more frequent sessions is most effective for clients experiencing severe and persistent problems. Shorter term therapy – typically up to 20 sessions – can be offered for those who are less severely affected in their lives. Therapy appointments for most clients are conducted in person - online appointments are also available for clients where this is appropriate.

My work with clients is confidential and is conducted within the ethical frameworks of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, the British Psychotherapy Foundation, and the University of Exeter.

Please contact me by email (davidtrussler60@icloud.com) to arrange a brief conversation and discuss an initial psychotherapy appointment.

Sometimes, we can feel a little stuck, unfocussed, confused or not like our usual self. Maybe you feel like your emotions are just running the show.

    Is this you?

    Ask yourself the following questions:

Do you ever wish you felt like your old self again?

Maybe you feel your emotions are taking over, and you can't control them.

Do past events keep popping up in the present, like roadblocks stopping you moving forward.

Maybe you want to make peace with a feeling, emotion, or memory for once and for all.

Do you wish you had a plan that would work for you, at your pace and suited to your unique situation?

Perhaps you've never been listened to before in a place where you feel heard and without judgement?

Have you ever served in the Armed Forces or are a spouse, partner or relative of someone who has?

Do you feel most people you talk to need help understanding military related stresses?

If any of the above questions resonate, then perhaps I could help.

As humans we all have essential emotional needs that need to be met in balance for us to flourish. When these needs are out of balance, we can suffer a range of physical and emotional symptoms.

Using the most up-to-date psychotherapeutic understanding and techniques, I help clients move forward with their lives as swiftly and effectively as possible. All the techniques used are evidenced based and work with the body and mind’s natural resources and processes. Human Givens is a holistic approach, which incorporates elements of Behavioural, Interpersonal and Cognitive therapies.

Counselling isn’t about giving you solutions or answers; it is about empowering you to make your own choices and implement positive change. My aim will be to help you leave each session feeling more hopeful and for you to begin to feel better and more positive as quickly as possible.

  • Jaime Van Weede

Hi, I’m Jaime Van Weede. I am a person centred counsellor.

You will find me in The Java Room.

To find out more about my services and qualifications, please go to my website:

    jaimevanweedecounselling.com.

    Contact:

    jaimevanweede@btinternet.com

I trained as an integrative counsellor and primarily work in a person centred way, bringing in other modalities depending on the needs of the client.

I know what it feels like to be anxious. I spent many years feeling out of place in the world and thinking everyone else must have it sorted. The road that led me to decide to train to be a counsellor was challenging and I can truly empathise when clients tell me they feel worried, anxious, lost, lonely, scared, vulnerable, confused.
We are all on our individual journeys and there are times when it can be helpful to share and talk through some of the issues that arise along the way. I can offer short or long term counselling and I also offer a free initial telephone consultation so that we can meet and decide whether we feel we could work together.

I have a personal interest in neurodiversity and I work with many adults on the autistic/ADHD spectrum.

My fees are £45 but please ask if you feel that isn’t manageable as I can offer a concessionary fee.
